If you are looking for a musical instrument in Vientiane, Thinnarat is the place to go. Located on Rue Samsenethai between Rue Haiphong and Rue Toulan, Thinnarat has one of the largest selections of musical instruments in town.
The quality of instruments sold at Thinnarat far surpasses the cheap knock-offs to be found at the Morning Market and other places in town. You won’t find any premium instruments here (ie. Martin guitars) but you will find good solid instruments that won’t break the moment you get home.
Some of the instruments that Vientiane Living found in stock at Thinnarat include:
-
Acoustic and electric guitars
-
Banjos and mandolins
-
Violins, saxophones and flutes
-
Drums and bongos
-
Keyboards
-
Traditional Lao instruments
-
Speakers and amps
Thinnarat also boasts a large collection of accessories including guitar strings, capos, pedals, drum sticks, and microphones.
If you looking for someone to teach you how to play an instrument, check out the Vientiane Music School. Under the same ownership as Thinnarat, it offers classes in many of the instruments found at Thinnarat.
